KOTA KINABALU: Undergraduates should be more proactive in charting a career path after graduating, Public Service Department (PSD) director-general Datuk Seri Zainal Rahim Seman said.

He added that students should be proactive in thinking and gaining knowledge.

“They need to be more sensitive to the demands of human capital and be prepared to face the challenges ahead.

“The importance of studying is significant in building the civilisation of a nation.

“Students must take the initiative to go further after graduating,” he said at the launch of Connect and Interact with PSD-sponsored students at Universiti Malaysia Sabah, here yesterday.

Zainal presented certificates of excellence to 13 students for obtaining a Cumulative Grade Point Average of 3.9 in their studies.

“Through sponsorship, we expect to produce students who can compete not only at the national-level, but also globally.

“Students must show determination and realise that they are an important asset to the country.”

Under the sponsorship, he said, students who excelled would be selected to join the civil service.
