Yee See told to be patient

OLYMPIAN Chan Peng Soon does not want shuttler Cheah Yee See to be in a rush to reach the top.

Instead, the 2016 Rio Games silver medallist wants his fellow Penangite to take things one step at a time and enjoy the experience.

Peng Soon, who makes up the World No 10 mixed doubles with his partner Goh Liu Ying, was commenting on Yee See making the Sudirman Cup squad this year, much to the surprise of everybody.

Yee See, who has yet to make an impact on the internatio­nal stage, was named in the team to fill in for Liu Ying, who is nursing a shoulder injury.

The other mixed doubles who will make the trip to Gold Coast, Australia next week are national No 2 Tan Kian Meng-Lai Pei Jing.

“I think it is understood that Pei Jing will most likely play in all the ties and we are prepared for that.

“However, Yee See should not feel disappoint­ed as it will take some time before she reaches our level.

“As of now, focus is on both Kian Meng and I playing with Pei Jing. But we are also testing out
