BURSA Malaysia gave up gains to end lower due to losses in key heavy­weights.

The FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) closed half-a-point weaker to 1,778.15 from 1,778.65 pre­vi­ously. Af­ter open­ing 6.38 points better at 1,785.03, the in­dex moved be­tween 1,773.09 and 1,787.54 through­out the day.

On the broader mar­ket, losers out­paced gain­ers 497 to 412, with 408 coun­ters flat, 444 un­traded and 32 sus­pended.

Vol­ume de­creased to 3.51 bil­lion units val­ued at RM3.84 bil­lion from 3.74 bil­lion units val­ued at RM2.99 bil­lion pre­vi­ously.

Among heavy­weights, May­bank fell three sen to RM9.35, TNB de­clined six sen to RM13.94 , while Petronas Chem­i­cals was two sen weaker at RM7.25 As for ac­tives, Iskan­dar Wa­ter­front lost 15 sen to RM1.98, Netx Hold­ings eased one sen to 7.5 sen, and Price­worth In­ter­na­tional gained half-a-sen to 25 sen.
