Najib visits Hadi at National Heart Institute
KUALA LUMPUR: Pas president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang, who is recovering at the National Heart Institute (IJN) from a heart valve replacement surgery on Monday, had a special visitor yesterday.
It was none other than Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.
“Managed to visit Tuan Guru Haji Hadi at IJN this morning,” the prime minister said in a Facebook post yesterday.
Najib spent 15 minutes at IJN, and met the Pas president’s family members as well as the doctors who were treating him.
“Alhamdulillah, the surgery went smoothly. He is now recovering,” he said.
Najib also called on the people to pray for Hadi’s quick recovery and for Allah’s protection.
Hadi underwent a three-hour heart surgery performed by a panel of doctors led by IJN chief executive officer and senior consultant cardiothoracic surgeon Datuk Seri Dr Mohd Azhari Yakub, cardiothoracic surgery head Datuk Seri Dr Jeffrey Jeswant Dillon and anaesthesiology department deputy head Datuk Dr Suhaini Kadiman.
IJN, in a statement on Tuesday, said Hadi had been having increasing symptoms due to a leaking heart valve that had affected his daily activities and was advised to undergo the surgery.
