Videos of Tengku Puan Pahang buying durian as ‘kak’ go viral

-

KUALA LUMPUR: Two videos showing a durian vendor addressing Tengku Puan Pahang Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah Sultan Iskandar Al-Haj as “kak” (big sister) have gone viral on social media.

The incident occurred during Tunku Azizah’s unofficial visit to Penang four days ago when she stopped by a roadside stall to buy the “king of fruits”, which is known for its spiky husk and strong odour.

“Nak kecik ke nak besar, kak? (Big sister, do you want a big or small one),” asked the vendor, known only as Rafi.

Tunku Azizah was earlier seen requesting Rafi to pick out one of his best durians.

In a second video, recorded the next day, Rafi looked embarrassed when Tunku Azizah visited his stall again.

The two videos were posted on Tunku Azizah’s Instagram profile. Tunku Azizah, in her Instagram post, said the vendor admitted he failed to recognise her initially.

It is learnt that Rafi had only learnt about Tunku Azizah’s identity through her bodyguards.

Tunku Azizah is the wife of Tengku Mahkota of Pahang Tengku Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah.

In the second video, Tunku Azizah was seen telling the vendor that he could call her “kak”.

Tunku Azizah’s candid and laid-back demeanour, meanwhile, has drawn praises from Netizens.

The two videos have garnered more than 320,000 views.

“Truly the people’s princess.” wrote Instagrm user @dtadek.

“Tengku Puan Pahang is friendly and humble,” another user, @Syahrazali, wrote.
