Videos of Tengku Puan Pa­hang buy­ing durian as ‘kak’ go vi­ral

KUALA LUMPUR: Two videos show­ing a durian ven­dor ad­dress­ing Tengku Puan Pa­hang Tunku Az­izah Ami­nah Maimu­nah Iskan­dariah Sul­tan Iskan­dar Al-Haj as “kak” (big sis­ter) have gone vi­ral on so­cial me­dia.

The in­ci­dent oc­curred dur­ing Tunku Az­izah’s un­of­fi­cial visit to Penang four days ago when she stopped by a road­side stall to buy the “king of fruits”, which is known for its spiky husk and strong odour.

“Nak ke­cik ke nak be­sar, kak? (Big sis­ter, do you want a big or small one),” asked the ven­dor, known only as Rafi.

Tunku Az­izah was ear­lier seen re­quest­ing Rafi to pick out one of his best duri­ans.

In a sec­ond video, recorded the next day, Rafi looked em­bar­rassed when Tunku Az­izah vis­ited his stall again.

The two videos were posted on Tunku Az­izah’s In­sta­gram pro­file. Tunku Az­izah, in her In­sta­gram post, said the ven­dor ad­mit­ted he failed to recog­nise her ini­tially.

It is learnt that Rafi had only learnt about Tunku Az­izah’s iden­tity through her body­guards.

Tunku Az­izah is the wife of Tengku Mahkota of Pa­hang Tengku Ab­dul­lah Sul­tan Ah­mad Shah.

In the sec­ond video, Tunku Az­izah was seen telling the ven­dor that he could call her “kak”.

Tunku Az­izah’s can­did and laid-back de­meanour, mean­while, has drawn praises from Ne­ti­zens.

The two videos have gar­nered more than 320,000 views.

“Truly the peo­ple’s princess.” wrote In­sta­grm user @dtadek.

“Tengku Puan Pa­hang is friendly and hum­ble,” an­other user, @Syahrazali, wrote.
