Nidzam gets the job

-

COACH Nidzam Adzha Yusoff has been rewarded for Kedah’s FA Cup triumph.

Nidzam’s position as caretaker coach was made permanent by the Kedah FA yesterday. Since taking over from Tan Cheng Hoe, Kedah have been undefeated in all competitions.

Nidzam has now pledged to turn Kedah into the most feared team in the M-League.

“Things have been crazy since winning the FA Cup but we will not let this success go to our heads. The only thing we have in our heads is winning the other competitions this season,” Nidzam told Timesport yesterday.

“I thank the management for entrusting me with Kedah until the end of the season. I will do my best to make Kedah better.

“We are a small club with a big heart. I do not plan to make changes as funding is short and furthermore, our foreigners have been superb since the start of the season.”

Kedah and Pahang are level on 21 points in the league but the latter are second on goal difference, six points behind leaders Darul Ta’zim.

Nidzam, 49, believes his team can match big spenders Darul Ta’zim and Pahang for the remainder of the season.

“Our target is top three in the Super League while the obvious aim in the Malaysia Cup is to retain the title. The win in the FA Cup does not make us a perfect team.

“There were some limitations in our play in the 3-2 win over Pahang in the final. We made mistakes but luckily we managed to absorb the pressure from Pahang in the final 10 minutes,” he said.

Nidzam said his players are tired and he may opt for fresh legs when they resume their Super League campaign against TTeam in Alor Star tomorrow.

“I may give half of my regulars a break and opt for fringe players on Wednesday. Everyone is tired. We will go through this match and take a short break before resuming training during Ramadan,” Nidzam added.
