the Malaysia Cup.

“I believe they will make an impact and pose a serious threat to the favourites,” Cheng Hoe told TV9 yesterday.

Fans can expect excitement in Group D comprising former AFC Cup champions Darul Ta’zim and 33-time winners Selangor along with Sarawak and Terengganu.

Darul Ta’zim’s interest in the Malaysia Cup will depend on how far they go in the AFC Cup. Last season, they used mostly fringe players in the competition and were subsequently ousted in the group stage.

Selangor and Darul Ta’zim are the favourites to advance to the quarter-finals.

FA Cup runners-up Pahang are in Group A with last year’s semifinalists T-Team, Negri Sembilan and first-timers Perak SEDC.

“Perak SEDC could surprise many by reaching the next round as they have been very consistent this season,” Cheng Hoe added.

A tight finish is expected in Group B comprising Perak, Felda United, PKNS and Kuala Lumpur.

The group stage will begin on July 4 with the final tentatively on Oct 28.
