Tricky path for Kedah in Malaysia Cup

Fans can ex­pect ex­cite­ment in Group D com­pris­ing former AFC Cup cham­pi­ons Darul Ta’zim and 33-time win­ners Se­lan­gor along with Sarawak and Tereng­ganu.

Darul Ta’zim’s in­ter­est in the Malaysia Cup will de­pend on how far they go in the AFC Cup. Last sea­son, they used mostly fringe play­ers in the com­pe­ti­tion and were sub­se­quently ousted in the group stage.

Se­lan­gor and Darul Ta’zim are the favourites to ad­vance to the quar­ter-fi­nals.

FA Cup run­ners-up Pa­hang are in Group A with last year’s semi­fi­nal­ists T-Team, Ne­gri Sem­bi­lan and first-timers Perak SEDC.

“Perak SEDC could sur­prise many by reach­ing the next round as they have been very con­sis­tent this sea­son,” Cheng Hoe added.

A tight fin­ish is ex­pected in Group B com­pris­ing Perak, Felda United, PKNS and Kuala Lumpur.

The group stage will be­gin on July 4 with the fi­nal ten­ta­tively on Oct 28.
