MAN­AGE­MENT & Science Univer­sity (MSU) phar­macy alumna Pree­jashini John Ja­yaraj has been awarded the Malaysian Phar­ma­ceu­ti­cal So­ci­ety-Chem­i­cal Com­pany of Malaysia Bhd (MPS-CCM) 2016 Gold Medal Award for her out­stand­ing achieve­ment in aca­demic and ex­tra-cur­ric­u­lar per­for­mance.

Chem­i­cal Com­pany of Malaysia (CCM) is one of the largest generic phar­ma­ceu­ti­cal man­u­fac­tur­ers in Malaysia. It is a key player in the fer­tilis­ers, chem­i­cals and phar­ma­ceu­ti­cals in­dus­tries.

The pre­sen­ta­tion of the award was or­gan­ised in con­junc­tion with the 50th Malaysian Phar­ma­ceu­ti­cal So­ci­ety (MPS) An­niver­sary Din­ner in Kuala Lumpur.

The award is pre­sented an­nu­ally to top fi­nal year stu­dents com­plet­ing the phar­ma­ceu­ti­cal pro­gramme at lo­cal pub­lic and pri­vate uni­ver­si­ties. Re­cip­i­ents are awarded the MPS-CCM Gold Medal, a cer­tifi­cate and RM500.

“It is grat­i­fy­ing to be recog­nised by the in­dus­try and this award means a lot to me. The recog­ni­tion is in­valu­able and will mo­ti­vate me to work harder,” said Pree­jashini, who is work­ing as a phar­ma­cist at Te­meng­gong Seri Ma­haraja Tun Ibrahim Hos­pi­tal in Ku­lai, Jo­hor.

“MSU has played a ma­jor role in mould­ing me to be­come the per­son I am today. My jour­ney in MSU taught me a lot, es­pe­cially in build­ing my char­ac­ter, lead­er­ship qual­i­ties and soft skills. I was also in­volved in many ex­tra-cur­ric­u­lar ac­tiv­i­ties,” she said.

“I would like to ex­press my heart­felt grat­i­tude to my par­ents, fam­ily, lec­tur­ers and friends for their con­tin­u­ous en­cour­age­ment.”

MSU is one of Malaysia’s top uni­ver­si­ties, with a fo­cus on de­vel­op­ing and de­liv­er­ing qual­ity hu­man cap­i­tal in na­tional and global crit­i­cal-need ar­eas, which in­clude Medicine, Health Sciences, Phar­macy, In­for­ma­tion Sciences, En­gi­neer­ing, Busi­ness Man­age­ment & Pro­fes­sional Stud­ies, Ed­u­ca­tion & So­cial Sciences, Hos­pi­tal­ity & Culi­nary and Mu­sic & Fash­ion.

The award-win­ning home-grown study pro­grammes meet strin­gent stan­dards set by lo­cal and in­ter­na­tional bodies.

Ac­cred­i­tors in­clude the Malaysian Qual­i­fi­ca­tions Agency (MQA), the United King­dom’s Ac­cred­i­ta­tion Ser­vices for In­ter­na­tional Col­leges (ASIC) and Ja­pan’s Al­liance on Busi­ness Ed­u­ca­tion and Schol­ar­ship for To­mor­row (ABEST21).

MSU was also ac­corded “Ex­cel­lent Sta­tus Univer­sity” twice on the na­tional uni­ver­si­tyrat­ing sys­tem SE­TARA and the Most En­tre­pre­neur­ial Pri­vate Univer­sity 2016 by the Higher Ed­u­ca­tion Min­istry. A re­cent rat­ing, plac­ing MSU on world-class stan­dards, was the QS 2016 Rat­ing, which awarded Five Stars to MSU for Teach­ing, Em­ploy­a­bil­ity, Fa­cil­i­ties, So­cial Re­spon­si­bil­ity and In­clu­sive­ness.

MSU gives top pri­or­ity to build­ing both stu­dents and fac­ulty as well as en­hanc­ing grad­u­ate em­ploy­a­bil­ity.

En­gag­ing highly qual­i­fied aca­demics and in­ter­na­tional vis­it­ing pro­fes­sors, the univer­sity de­liv­ers com­pelling learn­ing ex­pe­ri­ences within the frame­work of a holis­tic cur­ricu­lum.
