Funnyman Harith to tickle Los Angeles folk next month

-

THE Funniest Person In The World Harith Iskander is all prepared to tickle audiences in the City Of Angels next month.

The 50-year-old said that while he has not received the exact date of his three-day stand-up comedy showcase in California’s Los Angeles, its organiser, The Laugh Factory, had indicated that it would take place in the middle of next month.

The Johor Baru-born comedian who will be spending nine days there, will be accompanied by his wife and manager Dr Jezamine Lim.

“It’s a superb opportunity for me to promote my brand of comedy in the US, and I’ll also get to talk to the American media about my experiences as a comedian and actor,” he said in Kuala Lumpur recently.

Thrilled to be performing on The Laugh Factory’s stage which has hosted some of his favourite comedians, such as Chris Rock and the late Robin Williams, he said: “It’s definitely going to be a trip to remember. I’d like to thank The Laugh Factory for giving me this great opportunity to get close to American fans who are known to be open to comedy from across the globe.”

Harith’s trip will also include visits to tourist destinations in and around the city.

“Initially, I thought of bringing our three children along, but my wife and I decided against this, as it’ll be mostly a working trip.”

The comedian with two decades of experience, plans to tour more US cities next year with The Laugh Factory, which also organised the Funniest Person In The World contest last year.

Harith won the title and US$100,000 (RM447,950) at the contest’s finals in Levi, Finland, last December after beating 88 other international comedians.

While he is not likely to meet his favourite American comedians, he hopes to “bump” into popular comedian and television host Jay Leno.

“It’s never easy to meet an American comedian in the street or studio, but if I do get to meet Jay, I’d call myself the luckiest man in the world!” By Dennis Chua
