TEARS filled a memorial service held in honour of Bripda Ridho Setiawan, who was killed in the bomb blast in East Jakarta on Wednesday.

Kompas.com reported that Ridho’s father, Gunawan, slumped just before the ceremony began. With tears in his eyes, he sat on the steps of the Al-Jihad Mosque in the Dasana Indah housing area in Kelapa Dua, Tangerang, where the service in memory of Ridho was being held.

Ridho’s mother, Hafifah, was seen sobbing as she sat with the former’s two sisters. Family members and relatives were seen trying to console her.

“Her brother is in heaven. He is our pride. Surely, his way is the best way,” a relative said as he calmed the mother and sister.

Ridho, more commonly called Edo, is the youngest of three siblings.

Kompas.com reported that Ridho’s parents and two older sisters drove him to his final resting place in Lampung Tengah, his birthplace.

He is one of three policemen killed by a bomb at the Kampung Melayu bus terminal.

According to Detiknews news portal, Gunawan did not expect that his son would become a victim to the bombing.

The news portal said Gunawan managed to call Ridho, but there was no answer.

“There was no news last night.

“As soon as the bomb went off, I called him, but his phone was not active.

“I thought he was asleep,” Gunawan said at the service.

Detiknews reported that yesterday, Gunawan was awakened by a knock on the door, and it soon became clear that the person bore sad news.

Gunawan went to RS Polri Kramat Jati, where he identified the deceased as his son.

The other two policemen who were killed are Bripda Taufan Tsunami and Bripda Imam Gilang Adinata.

It was reported that two suspected suicide bombers killed three police officers and injured 10 people night in the twin blasts.
