SAUDI ARABIA DONATES 10 TONNES OF DATES

73 mosques, 553 surau receive dates from PM

MOSQUES and surau in Kuala Lumpur and the administra­tive capital will receive dates contribute­d by Saudi Arabia’s King Salman Abdulaziz Al-Saud, the custodian of the Two Holy Mosques.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak yesterday presented the dates to representa­tives of 73 mosques and 553 surau in the two federal territorie­s to kickstart the distributi­on of about 10 tonnes of dates (574 boxes) from the Saudi Arabia government.

Similar distributi­on programmes will be carried out during Ramadan in countries including South Africa, Germany, London and Turkey. Report would be handed to the TN50 unit under the Economic Planning Unit at the end of the year.

“At least four in-depth discussion sessions will be held by the group before we go on to the third phase.

“The third phase will take place in September with some ideas to be included in Budget 2018.”
