Veteran singer Sheila nervous over upcoming solo concert

-

EVEN with 32 years of experience in the music industry and earning the status as Malaysia’s iconic singer, Datuk Sheila Majid still feels the pressure of putting out a solo concert on Aug 5 at Stadium Negara in Kuala Lumpur.

Perhaps it is due to the fact that the last time she performed a concert of this scale was in 1991 for her Legenda concert.

“I think being nervous is good because it shows that you want to do well. This is my home ground, so I want to do well. We can only plan, but anything can happen.

“The last time I performed at a solo concert, I was younger and I had more energy. Now that I’m older, it is a different ballgame. I need to get myself prepared.

“There will be new song arrangements for me to memorise, and in addition to my old songs, there will be new ones too,” she said at a press conference at The Intermark in Kuala Lumpur recently.

“Everything needs to be properly planned beforehand, from the outfits to the song arrangements, right up to the script. I always prepare my own scripts for all my performances.

“You need to know what to say to your audience, so that they would focus on you onstage. That’s where the pressure lies too,” said the Ku Mohon hitmaker.

The mother of four revealed that she will begin rehearsals on the second week of Ramadan.

As for her fans, it looks like many are excited to see her in action as concert tickets have been selling fast since the details of the concert was announced last month.

Titled “Sheila Majid: The Concert Kuala Lumpur 2017”, the premium (RM888) and CAT1 (RM388) ticket categories have been sold out.

“I’m overwhelmed by the response from my fellow Malaysians, and touched by their support for my music. What can I say, I have the best fans.”
