KL2017 reaches spon­sor­ship tar­get

spon­sor­ship for the Kuala Lumpur Sea Games (KL2017) has ex­ceeded the RM80 mil­lion (cash and in kind) tar­get.

The amount now stands at RM82.7m fol­low­ing the an­nounce­ment of Royal Se­lan­gor as the Of­fi­cial Medal Part­ner and Sil­ver spon­sor yes­ter­day.

This was an­nounced by Sports Min­is­ter Khairy Ja­malud­din dur­ing the un­veil­ing of the KL2017 medals at the Royal Se­lan­gor Vis­i­tor Cen­tre in Se­ta­pak.

“To­day, I can an­nounce that the tar­get has reached 103 per cent or 82.7 mil­lion ring­git, ex­ceed­ing our 80 mil­lion ring­git tar­get.

“Cash is at 25 mil­lion ring­git and in kind is al­most at RM58 mil­lion ring­git.

The Sea Games and Asean Para Games medals will fea­ture sub­tle curved sur­faces, rims and edges and are made of pewter with a disc of kem­pas wood in­te­grated into the de­sign.

Khairy said, com­pared to other Games’ medals, this first of its kind medal is in­te­grated with a unique­ness that makes it truly Malaysia.

Royal Se­lan­gor also in­tro­duced sev­eral KL2017 spe­cial mer­chan­dises such as Ri­mau fig­ures, com­mem­o­ra­tive medals and col- lar pins, avail­able for sale to the pub­lic.

Also present at yes­ter­day’s un­veil­ing cer­e­mony were national ath­letes, in­clud­ing cy­clist Anuar Manan.

“When I saw the medal, I feel like I am con­fi­dent, I want to bring home the gold medal for my­self, said Anuar.

Royal Se­lan­gor will also be or­gan­is­ing a se­ries of ac­tiv­i­ties from May 30-Sept 23 which in­cludes a KL2017 selfie chal­lenge, school of hard knocks: a hand­son pewter craft­ing work­shop and a trea­sure hunt.
