KL2017 reaches sponsorship target

-

sponsorship for the Kuala Lumpur Sea Games (KL2017) has exceeded the RM80 million (cash and in kind) target.

The amount now stands at RM82.7m following the announcement of Royal Selangor as the Official Medal Partner and Silver sponsor yesterday.

This was announced by Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin during the unveiling of the KL2017 medals at the Royal Selangor Visitor Centre in Setapak.

“Today, I can announce that the target has reached 103 per cent or 82.7 million ringgit, exceeding our 80 million ringgit target.

“Cash is at 25 million ringgit and in kind is almost at RM58 million ringgit.

The Sea Games and Asean Para Games medals will feature subtle curved surfaces, rims and edges and are made of pewter with a disc of kempas wood integrated into the design.

Khairy said, compared to other Games’ medals, this first of its kind medal is integrated with a uniqueness that makes it truly Malaysia.

Royal Selangor also introduced several KL2017 special merchandises such as Rimau figures, commemorative medals and col- lar pins, available for sale to the public.

Also present at yesterday’s unveiling ceremony were national athletes, including cyclist Anuar Manan.

“When I saw the medal, I feel like I am confident, I want to bring home the gold medal for myself, said Anuar.

Royal Selangor will also be organising a series of activities from May 30-Sept 23 which includes a KL2017 selfie challenge, school of hard knocks: a handson pewter crafting workshop and a treasure hunt.
