Rev Asia to drive Media Prima’s digital growth

-

KUALA LUMPUR: Rev Asia Bhd’s profitable digital media business will drive Media Prima Digital Sdn Bhd (MPD) to success following the recent acquisition of its subsidiary, REV Asia Holdings Sdn Bhd.

MPD chief executive officer Rafiq Razali said Rev Asia had a strong team operating cohesively, which had built a prosperous business in the past couple of years.

“It’s rare to find a digital asset that is profitable. We look forward to having Rev Asia as part of the Media Prima family. The acquisition will give us access to a variety of urban segments covering the

English, Chinese and

Malay audiences,” he said yesterday.

Rafiq said the move would see some costsaving mea- sures taking place, although MPD did not intend to do it from a headcount perspective.

“The cost saving measures would be carried out in terms of systems and tools, where both parties would probably pay for the same services such as the traffic monitoring tools. These could be unified under a single platform.”

Rafiq said some overlaps in terms of job scopes between MPD and Rev Asia were identified, but they were isolated in their social media sites and parts of digital marketing.

On achieving MPD’s goal of becoming the No. 1 digital publisher in Malaysia, Rafiq said the team had laid out key strategic measures, which, if well-executed, would meet its target.

On the editorial stand by Rev Asia’s digital platforms post-acquisition, he said the value of the acquisition came from keeping them independent.
