Skuad Terima Kasih brings Ramadan cheer
PETALING JAYA: Media Prima Bhd (MPB) has launched a new corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme in conjunction with Ramadan.
Skuad Terima Kasih (STK), organised by TV3 and TV9 via their Ramadan campaign, was flagged off yesterday from Sri Pentas, Bandar Utama. The campaign ends on June 20.
Media Prima Television Networks chief executive officer Datuk Kamal Khalid said this was one of the CSR programmes which focused on raising awareness that good deeds could be done regardless of one’s background.
“We want to emphasise that even a disabled person can contribute to society. The organisations involved in this programme have proven that people from all walks of life can do something to help the less fortunate.
“On Wednesday, we had a prelaunch programme where individuals from the National Council for the Blind Malaysia read stories in braille to cerebral palsy children,” he said.
He said these children would then express themselves through drawings, assisted by artist Marini Ramlan, better known as Nini Marini, where these paintings would be auctioned off on June 12 to raise funds for future activities.
Kamal said the programme aimed at empowering people with disabilities and at the same time enhancing positive perception of them.
“The reason why we chose to engage the disabled is to restore their self-worth.
“These are people who are often forgotten by society and we want to help them feel appreciated,” said Kamal.
Seven organisations — National Council for the Blind Malaysia, Johor Society of the Deaf, Cerebral Palsy Malaysia, Spinal Muscular Athropy, Association of and for the Little People Malaysia, Pengasih and Prisons Department — have been invited by MPB to join the campaign.
About 100 MPB employees are involved in the programme during the campaign.
