ANY changes to the current coaching and training structure at the BA of Malaysia (BAM) will depend on the degree of acceptance.

BAM technical director Morten Frost explained that the proposals, if any, must also be endorsed by the Coaching and Training (C&T) committee before being implemented.

Frost, who declined to get into details, said he had already shared some ideas with BAM president Datuk Seri Norza Zakaria before the Sudirman Cup in Gold Coast, Australia last month.

Malaysia’s exit in the quarterfinals following a 3-1 loss to Japan, has sparked speculations on what will happen next, especially with the Kuala Lumpur Sea Games and World championships drawing near.

“It’s still too soon to say but we have been toying with ideas. However, they are not just based on the Sudirman Cup but on what happens here (Academy Badminton Malaysia) everyday,” said Frost.

“As for a new coaching structure, I have been working on it for a very long time and have spoken to our president.

“I must stress that it is a decision that must be made by the C&T. We will meet next Thursday (June 8), so let’s wait and see what happens.”

When asked if it would result in a major reshuffle, Frost said: “I can’t say, it will depend on the degree of acceptance.”

He clarified that the final list of names for the Sea Games in August will be announced next week, following the Olympic Council of Malaysia’s (OCM) final selection meeting on Tuesday.

A total of 20 players, both men and women, will compete in the team and individual events.
