POPULAR TV host and comedian Nabil Ahmad’s production house, Nabil Production, will be coming out with two feature films — one next year and another in 2019. “One is a horror comedy made for TV to be aired exclusively on Astro First, while the other’s a star-studded adventure comedy for the big screen,” says Nabil during the recent launch of department store Jakel’s Ramadan and Aidil Fitri campaign

at Jakel Mall in Kuala Lumpur.

Nabil’s horror comedy involves several scary but funny encounters between humans and the supernatural.

“While horror comedies have become pretty formulaic on the big screen, this will have interesting plot twists. Each character is not as straightforward as we think,” says the 33-year-old funnyman.

Nabil adds that he may consider a cameo in the other film.

“This adventure film covers several tourist destinations around the country and also introduces audiences to less known places off the beaten track,” he says.

Nabil, who loves travelling, adds: “It’s tentatively titled and, like the other film, will also have some interesting plot twists.”

Besides films, Nabil is coming out with a game show, for Astro Warna, to air in December.

“This weekly show will have four celebrities engaging in challenging games. Each will also form team of threes comprising

Wilma Muhammad. two of their fans,” says Nabil.

may have all-celebrity teams at the end of its seasons according to Nabil, who adds: “The games involve clockbeating physical challenges, mathematical and general knowledge quizzes.”

Nabil will have an educational comedy broadcast on Astro Oasis in December too.

“It’s meant to educate youths on universal human values and their religious obligations such as prayer, fasting and attending religious classes,” says Nabil, who has always wanted to produce programmes with a spiritual slant.

On his inaugural TV production

which aired yesterday, Nabil, who is the director, scriptwriter and producer, said viewers have given him good feedback.

“The cast, comprising of Sherry AlHadad, Ebby Yus, Angah and Ippo Hafiz, has been doing a good job in the weekly outings which highlight issues in a humorous way,” says Nabil, adding that he has plans to produce travel shows, documentaries and specials featuring international comedians in the future.

If everything goes well, he may also prohighlight duce comedy shows in English to the country’s English-speaking stand-up comedians.

“There’ll be lots of challenges since it’s a new setup but I’m confident since I have the spirit!” he says enthuin siastically.

Nabil is one of 10 artistes involved Jakel’s campaign, which promotes Aidil Fitri fashion specially designed by the celebrities. They include Harith Iskander, Awal Ashaari, Hanis Zalikha and Rozita Che Wan.
