Reshuffling at MRU

-

AFTER the national men’s 15s team successfully defended their Asian Championship Division One title for a second consecutive year, Malaysia Rugby Union (MRU) president Datuk Shahrul Zaman

Yahya decided to reshuffle the union’s administration.

In a move to achieve their objective of qualifying for the 2019 Rugby World Cup, Shahrul has announced the return of Jamaluddin Salim as MRU secretary-general.

“Please join me to welcome back Jamaluddin and together with Datuk Zaki Zahid that has been appointed as treasurer earlier.

“I believe that the MR administration, supported by all the excos, council members and MR office personnel, will have a better focus to bring Malaysia rugby to the next level.”

Shahrul added that Raimi Mohd Yusof will focus on his main task as vice president after having carried three roles (secretary general, vice president coordinator and manager of the men’s 15s team) for the past year.

“I am allowing Raimi to focus back on his VP role especially on the roll out of the programme to fulfill our commitment to world rugby to spread the sport to as many Malaysians as possible and the development of all the incubator schools under NRDP (National Rugby Development Plan).”

Meanwhile, Malaysia is set to work with the International Rugby Academy of New Zealand (IRANZ) branch in the country with prelimarinary discussions to be held at the Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) in Serdang.

The project is set to see the academy as the hub for the Asian region whereby Malaysia will get to benefit from the expertise of world renowned coaches, especially from the All Blacks, and follow training modules that meet the international guidelines. Farah Azharie
