- REPORTS BY FARAH AZHARIE farahazharie@nst.com.my

FATEHAH Mustapa will take it as a challenge to shine in all four events at the Kuala Lumpur Sea Games in August. The cyclist believes she can deliver gold in the events.

“It is a huge challenge for me but I will strive to make it happen. If luck is on my side, I will achieve my target,” said Fatehah in Melbourne yesterday.

The 28-year-old will compete in the team sprint competition and three individual events — sprint, keirin and 500m time trial. The track events, which offer 13 gold medals, are scheduled for Aug 27-29 at National Velodrome in Nilai.

Fatehah is training hard and determined to give the home fans much cheer at the Sea Games despite not having the opportunity to try out the International Cycling Union (UCI)-recognised track in Nilai yet.

“I have yet to test the track as I was in Melbourne when it was officially opened.

“But I have heard good things from Azizulhasni Awang and Josiah Ng about the track. They said it is one of the best tracks in the world.”

“Things are going great and my performance is getting better in training under coach John Beasley,” Fatehah added.

In the 2007 Korat Sea Games, Fatehah won bronze in the team and individual sprint, and 500m time trial events.

Four years later in Indonesia, Fatehah lived up to expectations by winning the same events.
