HUBBY COOKING UP A STORM FOR NORA

SINCE tying the knot with businessman Nedim Nazri last March, actress Nora Danish seems to have put on some weight. “No, I am not pregnant,” said Nora with a laugh. “But Nedim has been such a superb chef at home that I just couldn’t say no to his cooking.”

Some of her favourites that Nedim has whipped up are steak, buttered prawn, ayam masak cili api and ketam masak lemak.

“I’m not being biased, but everything he cooks tastes delicious,” gushed the 35-year-old artiste.

“It’s so good that whenever we dine out, I’d prefer his cooking anytime. Even Nedim’s son, Nedrin, prefers his cooking over outside food.”

The Terengganu-born added that her husband had always been passionate about cooking.

“It’s a skill that runs in the family. He’s been trying out new recipes and loves to see his loved ones enjoying the dishes he prepares.”

On the perception that a woman has to be a good cook, Nora isn’t at all “threatened” by Nedim’s skills in the kitchen. Instead, she sees it as a blessing.

“I do cook for him sometimes, but his dishes are far more superior,” she said, adding that she’s in charge of cleaning the house, which she finds to be therapeutic.

Nedim, 34, has even stood in as chef for Nora’s cafe, Kopi & XOXO, in Bangi.

“When we opened the branch, he was the cook. We have loyal customers who requested for his cooking,” said Nora at the launch of the animated film The Secret Life of Pets at St. Regis Kuala Lumpur recently.

She lent her voice to the Bahasa Malaysia-dubbed version of the film, which will premiere on June 25 at 8pm on HBO (Astro Channel 411/431).

Although she is busy managing her Muslimah clothing line, Owl by ND, acting offers are also flowing in.

“Having acted in two films (Makrifat Cinta and Bukan Cinta Malaikat) recently, I miss starring in television drama series, so I may look into doing more of that after Hari Raya Aidilfitri.”

Her last lead role in a drama series was in Ajaibnya Cinta in 2015.

Since then, she had to decline offers for the small screen since they were mostly long series that would take up to seven months to wrap up filming.

“Even though it’s time consuming, the experience of acting in a drama is unlike that for a film. You get to dive deeper into your character.”
