FOOD and beverage manufacturer Super Group Ltd hopes the opening of its first RM1 million factory outlet would help to build up its brand recognition.

Its executive director Steven Lim said with the opening of the outlet, customers would be able to experience for themselves the process of making of Super products as well as to taste the different products that are available.

“This would hopefully help us to better build the Super brand. We hope customers would be more familiar with our brand once they understand the process of making our products,” said Lim.

He said the company spent about RM1 million to open the 14,000 sq ft outlet, which is located at Super’s manufacturing facility in Plentong, Johor Baru.

“For the moment, the outlet is only open to group tours, for tourists. For the time being, we have no plans to open it to the public,” said Lim.

He was speaking after the launch of the factory outlet by Johor Tourism, Domestic Trade and Consumerism Committee chairman Datuk Tee Siew Kiong.

Also present was Malaysian Inbound Tourism Association president Uzaidi Udanis.

Tee said factory tourism is a new trend in the tourism industry and is an innovative and unique product.

“There is a large market for this kind of tourism as there are many people who are interested in what we call ‘experience-based’ tourism.

“There are also school and university students who might be interested to learn about the manufacturing process,” said Tee.

He said these tours would add value to a company’s brand.

“There are many manufacturing facilities in Johor so there are a lot of opportunities for companies to introduce these tours to tourists,” said Tee.

Super manufactures pre-mix instant coffee, tea and cereal under the Super and Essenso brands.

It also makes cup instant noodles under the Super brand.
