So much to enjoy

Besides the scenic views, Sydney has some of the best beaches as well as numerous halal eateries

-

HOME to the world’s largest natural harbour, Sydney has always been portrayed as a perfect holiday destination. Unlike other cities that are primarily known for their bright lights and skyscrapers, Sydney teases visually with numerous landscapes.

Imagine starting your day with endless options of perfectly-brewed coffee at any of the cafes in picturesque Surry Hills, then taking a 15-minute rail or bus ride to Ogalo at Darlinghurst for the most amazing Portuguese-styled halal burgers and chips.

Then burn it off with the free guided walks available daily except on public holidays at the Royal Botanic Gardens. Having just celebrated its second centennial not too long ago, it is the oldest botanic garden in Australia.

Now that you’ve flexed those finger muscles from all the picture taking, it’s time for the piece de resistance — the Sydney Harbour Bridge!

Visitors are guaranteed 360 degrees of amazing views and if you want to bring it up another level, sign up for the bridge climb which is available four times daily.

CHIC AND GLAMOUR

Noted as Australia’s most glamorous city, it is also the perfect place for peoplewatching.

If the weather permits, opt for alfresco dining or choose a curbside cafe (check out apps like Beanhunter to find the best cafes near you) and just soak in the view.

From the super stylish and trendy to the eclectic or grungy, Sydney is a city of fashion. Indulge in outlet shopping at the harbour-side Birkenhead Point Outlet Centre which houses over 120 premium brands or at factory and brand outlets at Market City in the heart of Sydney’s Chinatown.

Get amazing bargains at flea markets like The Rocks Markets (weekends only) or Paddington Markets (Saturdays only). Splurge on luxurious retail therapy in some of the most historical buildings such as the Queen Victoria Building (built in the 1890s) and The Strand Arcade, a beautiful Victorian-style shopping arcade.

Whatever your fashion style, you can rest assured you can get one-of-a-kind pieces to add to your wardrobe.

FUN IN THE SUN

For days when the sun beckons for the outdoors, do visit at least one of the many amazing parks such as Hyde Park (just a short walk from the Royal Botanic Garden) and check out the famed Archibald Fountain.

If you have at least half a day to spare, play dress-up in traditional Chinese costumes, stroll amidst the bonsai trees and pose for photos at the various pavilions in the Chinese Garden of Friendship in Darling Harbour.

No visit to Sydney is complete without soaking in some sand, sea and sky though. Pack sunscreen or suntan lotions and bring out the floppy hats as you join the many locals basking in the sun.

Manly Beach is popular, and has both the relaxed and serene strip of beach with calm waves, as well as a busy surf beach where you can opt to sign up for surfing classes.

Another popular beach is Bondi Beach. Golden beaches and magnificent sandstone cliffs aside, why not try the Bondi to Coogee Walk, a distance of 6km. It will be one of the most memorable and rewarding walks you have ever taken. Coogee Beach has cafes aplenty but if you feel like some fish and chips, do ask if they use alcohol in the batter.

Visit the beautiful Auburn Gallipoli Mosque; Check out the Bondi to Coogee coastal walk.

Spectacular Darling Harbour; Take a ride on the Darling Harbour Ferris Wheel; Stroll along the Rock District.
