Little Thurgashree joins the act too

K. KANDIAH nstsport@nst.com.my at the first Penang Closed Women Weightlifting Championships at the Dewan SJK (T) Kampong Baru, Bukit Mertajam recently.

She lifted 22kg in the snatch and 32kg in the clean and jerk for a 54kg total for the gold in the 45kg category, defeating SMK Machang Bubuk’s Azzemah Mohd Azmi and Nur Fathihah Abdullah of SMK Convent Bukit Mertajam who finished second and third respectively with 45kg and 36kg.

Thurgashree was lost for words and hugged her mother in tears when her name was announced as the winner of the “Best Weightlifter of the Championships” by the judges.
