Love for nostalgia
TELL me I’m not the only person that was mesmerised by Galia Lahav’s breathtaking Spring/Summer 2018 collection. The couture line was blasted all over the Internet recently and I still can’t get over it!
Fabrication depicts the bridal house’s love affair with Victorian England and the French ‘La Belle Epoque’, with dresses from the era beautifully reimaged, complete with high collars, corsets, billowing puffed sleeves and bustled backs.
It may sound too much but Lahav manages to balance the designs to respect the feminine body.
Considering that I haven’t gotten its past collection (a 1920s line inspired by the era’s icons and style) out of my system yet, fans of bridalwear designers like Vera Wang, Elie Saab and/or Zuhair Murad should definitely give Galia Lahav a chance.
Suffice to say that this is certainly the new haute couture bridal-wear designer to watch.

Don’t worry. Let me elaborate on the latest creations by the bridal house. Who knows? You may even get some inspiration to create your own bespoke gown.
VINTAGE AFFINITY
For the Spring/Summer 2018 capsule collection, designers Galia Lahav and Sharon Sever The Thelma boasts an elaborate vintage applique ornament which forms an offthe-shoulder neckline and has sheer drape silk tulle sleeves. It can be paired with or without a detachable Victorian bustle train made of silk organza with a striking vintage lace medallion in the centre.
The Inez is a slim fitted corset mermaid gown made of sparkly hand embroidered Chantilly lace. It is paired with a sheer Victorian high neckline top and nude Stardust Veil (optional) decorated with Swarovski crystals. RIGhT: The Tesla comes with an impressive detachable train with a spiral feature and lace trim decorating the entire hemline.
