AFTER close to 17 years of doing it independently, Haiza has chosen Indigital Music to manage her singing career. The 37-year-old thinks it is best to leave it to the experts, from accepting job offers to arranging Press interviews and photography sessions.

“Indigital Music will also be the record label releasing my single,” says Haiza, whose duet with Aepul Roza (of Drama Band), was released after she had signed on with the company early last month.

In 1995, Haiza recorded her hit dangdut album, when she was with Polygram.

After five years with the label, she then switched to NSR, which closed down a year later.

Since then, Haiza has been going at it on her own until now.

“It’s time I planned well for my future by engaging professionals for a better result,” says Haiza, whose full name is Rohaizah Nordin.

“The team, led by husband and wife Poji Samad and Nana Mohamad Rom, has solid credibility in managing the artistes.

“I’m happy to join talents such as Dayang Nurfaizah, Ronnie Hussein, Sakura Band and Aizat Amdan,” she says.

Haiza, who is also a radio announcer, adds that her decision ensures effective exposure in mainstream media, for both her singing as well as her radio hosting job at Kool FM.

Indigital Music’s experience comes into play as mass media still has an important role, despite many artistes utilising their personal social media platforms to reach out to fans.

DANGDUT FOREVER

Haiza will also be recording and releasing a physical album later.

She has seven solo albums under her belt. The last one, was released in 2014.

In 2015, Haiza took part in season 2 of Astro’s popular reality singing show

where fellow singer Siti Nordiana emerged as winner, with Haiza finishing at sixth place.

After that, Haiza recorded her ballad single, but it only received lukewarm response.

“Maybe fans were more familiar with my dangdut songs from the past. But it was worth the effort. I tried the genre as some fans had requested it and now I know what is better suited for

me,” says Haiza, who plans to focus on dangdut.

“I can inject modern elements into my songs to keep them relevant to younger listeners,” she says.

Although some may view her as a versatile artiste, she confesses that dangdut remains her No. 1 love.

JUGGLING HER PASSIONS WELL

The singer recently released the Hari Raya-themed song,

composed by S. Atan with lyrics by Siso.

“I’m glad I finally recorded a Raya tune by such a renowned composer,” says Haiza of the go-to Raya song composer, who wrote 10 Raya songs this year, including the one for Haiza.

Haiza has been a radio announcer since 2012 when she joined KL FM.

In 2015, she returned to her home state of Johor when she joined Best FM for a year. “Although it was good to be closer to my

as a singer I need to be based in KL since there are more singing engagements here.

“When I was staying in Johor Baru, I wasted time travelling back and forth for shows in KL.”
