Creative, dynamic approach to lessons

-

SMK Taman Maluri i n Kuala Lumpur was chosen to join the Trust School Programme i n September 2015.

“This initiative has allowed teachers to take a creative and dynamic approach in line with the 21st Century learning transformation,” said principal Nur Elisa Tee Lee Hwa.

Elisa said conventional classroom l earning alone was not able to fully unleash the potential of talented students.

She said the teaching and learning approach to link knowledge and skills, including mastering holistic values and life skills, were important for the new generation of students.

“The learning in school has become more organised and structured after joining the Trust School Programme. We are focusing on lessons through group discussions,” she said.

“This allows for frequent interaction among the students as they can give opinions for an active teaching and learning session. The students are also attracted to a vibrant classroom environment.”

Meanwhile, SK Hisamuddin Alam Shah teacher Norma’asah Jaafar Sidek said her pupils had gained more confi d e nce to speak in front of their peers.

She said this was because the Tr u s t S c h o o l Programme had nurtured innovation and creativity among the t e a c h e r s , e nabling them to conduct interesting lessons that encouraged critical thinking among their pupils.

She said these included homework presentations in class, question-and-answer sessions as well as interactive games.

“They are also given reward stickers for active participation in class, and when they excel in all activities that they join,” she said.
