KHALED SLAMS DAP OVER FALSE CLAIM
Allegation that his son switched sides to support PPBM baseless, says MB
MENTERI Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin has lamb a ste d DAP ’s desperate insinuation that his son was a member of Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM).
He said the claim that his son, Akmal Saufi Mohamed Khaled, had supposedly switched sides to support PPBM was not based on facts and was DAP’s way of spreading lies to the people.
“They (DAP) have to be responsible with what they write, which must be based on facts.
“This clearly shows that DAP is running out of ideas and is trying to dupe the people by twisting the facts, saying things that are not true, or lying,” Khaled said after attending a Hari Raya Aidilfitri open house hosted by the Iskandar Regional Development Authority here yesterday.
He was commenting on an article posted on roketkini.com on Monday, in which Johor DAP publicity assistant secretary Sheikh Omar Ali wrote about a claim that Umno Youth leaders in Johor, including Khaled’s son, had thrown their support behind PPBM.
The article has been denied by Akmal Saufi, who has demanded that the online portal retract the article and issue an apology.
Ak m a l Sa u f i , 3 0, wh o is Khaled’s only child, holds a position as Johor Baru Umno Youth division information chief.
Khaled said the article by DAP was not discussed by his family and believed that his son was capable of handling the matter.
“My son is a grown man who has a daughter. He is a lawyer. I believe this is all a learning experience for him,” said Khaled.
Akmal Saufi said he was still an active member of Umno and denied suggestions that youth were turning their backs on the party.
“The report is absolutely not true because I am still a member of Umno.
“The number of Umno members from my generation continues to increase. We do not need to show off like certain parties as we have our dignity and do not boast about it.
“My advice to the opposition party is not to meddle in my affairs and don’t try to find opportunities for cheap political stunts and baseless allegations,” said Akmal Saufi.
