HIKAYAT Merong Mahawangsa actress Ummi Nazeera Zainul Abidin will wed her “king” next month, but she assures fans that her future husband won’t place tight restrictions on her acting career.

The 27-year-old beauty, who played warrior king Merong Mahawangsa’s graceful queen, Embok, in the award-winning 2011 film, is set to tie the knot with Bintulu-based medical practitioner Dr Mohamad Izzar Anwari, 30, on Aug 3.

It will be a private affair at Le Meridien Hotel Kuala Lumpur attended by their families.

Feeling excited and nervous as she awaits her big day, Ummi describes Dr Izzar as a “super cool” gentleman who enjoys watching the dramas and films she has acted in.

“The first work he saw me in was Hikay at Meron gM ahawangsa. Our mothers are friends, and we met a year ago. He has been following my career and impressing me with his knowledge of film (making).

“My husband has no problem with that. He has given me the green light to play as many dif- ferent characters as I can, and the only ‘restriction’, if there’s one, is to avoid wearing revealing attire and not to star in productions which have a lot of violent scenes,” said Ummi at the launch of the drama series, Chor & Chah, KL Sentral recently.

Ummi and Dr Izzar share the same birth date, Aug 20, which she believes makes them compatible.

“We share common interests, such as film, travel, food and fashion. The only obvious difference between us is that he is calm and I have the tendency to lose my cool!”

Marrying a doctor is a godsend for Ummi since she is health-conscious.

Their wedding will be followed by receptions at Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur and Menara Felda in KLCC on Aug 5 and 12, respectively.

“Our two-week honeymoon is in Switzerland. I am excited to visit the b eautiful countr y again.”

Ummi, a business graduate who has been acting since 16, is without an on-screen boyfriend for the first time in the 12episode Chor & Chah, which is produced by Suhan Movies And Trading.

“I play Chah, an executive with SME Corporation who guides Chor, an aspiring entrepreneur to build up his business.”

The series is available from Aug 1, on its own YouTube channel, also named Chor & Chah. Ummi stars alongside Saharul Ridzwan (as Chor), Ruhainies, Hafreez Adam and Luqman Hafidz.

The series is supported by SME Corporation and aims to educate budding entrepreneurs on how to build their businesses.
