Hani Mazrita Hamzah gives five reasons why you should pick this hotel for a short staycation in the city

Gen Japanese Restaurant offers good food, a fabulous dining ambience and a splendid view of Kuala Lumpur.

THE ambience of Sunway Putra Hotel will charm whoever steps into the hotel, which is located just opposite the iconic Putra World Trade Centre in Kuala Lumpur. The luxurious setting, coupled with the warm greetings from the concierge and front desk — give an indication that we will be well taken care of throughout our short staycation.

After checking in, myfamily is ushered to our room. Along the way, we’re given a short guide on its facilities. Even though it looks more like a business hotel, what with its strategic location and its wide range of MICE facilities and packages, I find it fascinating that it actually offers a Family Package. Which is the reason we’re here for the weekend.

Themomentweenterourroom,Icansee how the Family Package fits into the hotel’s business-like setting. Our 40.5sq m family room is spacious and cosy.

Our family room is equipped with a single bed and a comfortable king (or twin) bed. There are also a full dining set, full amenities in the bathroom and a mini bar.

But what’s important is that the room is safe, especially for active and inquisitive boys like my kids.

The Family Package for two adults and twochildren is just RM438nettpernight with perks like TGV cinema tickets and access to dine at The Club, where drinks and snacks are provided from lunch till tea-time.

A bonus for my kids is the beautifully designedswimmingpoolwhichhasseparate areas for kids and adults. There’s a hot tub for those wishing to enjoy spa treatments.

My kids and I agree that there are five reasons SunwayPutraHotel is agoodchoice for a short staycation in the city.

Since it’s located in the busy part of the city, one just has to brave the heavy city traffic.

• skyline makes us feel like a foreigner in our own city.

• The hotel is only 15 minutes away from the central business district of Kuala Lumpur.

• But if we’re too lazy to negotiate through the city’s traffic, we can easily hop onto the trains — LRT, Monorail or KTM Komuter — that are just a stone’s throw from the hotel.
