ADAP assemblyman’s aide, who is wanted for alleged sexual assault on a waitress, was arrested when he turned himself in at the police headquarters here yesterday evening.

Northeast district police chief Assistant Commissioner Anuar Omar said the man would be remanded at the magistrate’s court today to facilitate investigations into the case.

The man allegedly molested and committed lewd acts on the woman at a carpark outside an entertainment outlet on Thursday.

“The case is investigated under Section 354 of the Penal Code for assault or use of criminal force on a person with intent to outrage modesty,” he said yesterday.

Anuar said the man would be subjected to a urine test. He did not explain why it was needed.

In a report lodged on Friday, the 21-year-old waitress said the man was drunk during the incident.

After taking her out of the outlet, he allegedly used force to hug and kiss her, and told her to perform oral sex on him, which she refused.

She claimed that she tried to get away from him, but was overpowered by the man, who was bigger.

When she started crying, she claimed that the man started masturbating and ejaculating on her. He then allegedly offered her RM700 to spend the night with him.

She, however, refused and left the area, and lodged a police report the next day.

Police were trying to retrieve a closed-circuit television camera footage of the scene.

Penang DAP chairman Chow Kon Yeow said the party would wait for police investigations to be completed before commenting on the case.

Police are expected to record statements from the outlet operator and witnesses identified in the CCTV footage.
