THE completion rate for Takata driver front airbag inflator replacements stood at 80.2 per cent, while that of Takata passenger front airbag inflator replacements was at 55.9 per cent as of June 29.

“Honda Malaysia remains committed to ensure the safety of Honda customers via replacement activities at the selected shopping malls nationwide and mobile sales roadshow every weekend this month.

“This is in addition to the ongoing replacement activities at all authorised Honda dealers and selected Petronas stations,” said Honda Malaysia in a statement.

As at the same date, it said, the stock availability was 100 per cent for both the Takata driver and passenger front airbag inflators and the company was committed to increase the completion rate of the replacement of the front airbag inflators.

“The replacement activities at selected Petronas stations will continue as usual and Honda Malaysia would like to thank Petronas Dagangan Bhd (PDB) for its support throughout the collaboration period, where many owners managed to have their affected Takata front airbag inflators replaced.

“The company will continue with the ongoing replacement activities at shopping mall hubs nationwide, with more venues being added,” it said.

The company said it was important that affected owners immediately replace the defective Takata front airbag inflators as they might deploy with excessive internal pressure when activated. The airbag inflator casing may rupture and result in injury or fatality to the driver and passenger.

“Honda Malaysia strongly urges affected car owners to make an appointment at any authorised Honda service centres to avoid any delays or setbacks. However, the replacement activities at the selected shopping mall hubs and Petronas stations do not require advanced appointment, except for Civic Type R owners.

“Customers are encouraged to bring their vehicles only to the authorised Honda dealers, the selected shopping mall hubs and Petronas stations for the replacement of affected Takata front airbag inflators,” said Honda Malaysia.

For further enquiries, affected customers may contact the Honda Toll Free number 1-800- 88-2020. Honda customers can also check their vehicle’s recall status either by logging on to www.honda.com.my or www.productrecall.honda.com.my
