DAP not sidelined in opposition pact, says Azmin

-

KLANG: PKR deputy president Datuk Seri Azmin Ali yesterday brushed off claims that DAP was sidelined in Pakatan Harapan’s (Pakatan) new leadership line-up.

He said the reason DAP was not among the coalition’s top three posts, which were dominated by PKR and Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM), was that it was not possible to have five presidents in the organisation.

Azmin, who is Selangor menteri besar, said there was no truth to claims that DAP had been ignored, and that the Pakatan leaders in the line-up were not placed there to challenge one another.

“Deputy president is good enough. There can’t be five presidents, right?” said

Azmin when asked to comment.

“Those claims, where did they come from? Is it MCA? Of course they are not true.

“That is why you must get feedback from us,” he said, after launching the

Azmin said he was also glad that Pakatan leaders had finally accepted Dr Mahathir’s leadership, as chair of the presidential council.

“Since the start, I have been working to see how Tun Dr Mahathir’s role can be streamlined with the Reformasi agenda, brought since the Barisan Alternatif and Pakatan Rakyat time.

“But, although it took some time, to the extent that I was criticised as being Tun Dr Mahathir’s anak angkat, that I have Umno’s DNA in me, now I can see that Pakatan has accepted his leadership to chair the council.

“It is a combination of old and new way of thinking, working together as a team. It is good for the people and the country.”
