UMNO vice-president Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein yesterday described the new line-up of Pakatan Harapan leaders as chaotic.

Hishammuddin, who is also defence minister, said the line-up showed that the opposition was incapable of making firm decisions and who among them would lead the party.

“Chaotic. The leaders are now shooting their mouths off, appointing three people (Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail to be the leaders)... how about the others?

“Where do you put Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir? Where do you put Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal? Where do you put Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin? These are the questions,” he said after officiating the closing of the Umno Lenggong division delegates’ meeting here.

“I am not sure whether they are serious or they are simply doing this as a marriage of convenience.”

On Thursday, Pakatan Harapan finalised its leadership structure, naming Anwar as its de facto leader, Dr Mahathir as chairman and Dr Wan Azizah as its president.

As for the deputy presidents, PPBM president Muhyiddin, DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng and Parti Amanah Negara (PAN) president Mohamad Sabu were the chosen ones.

On a separate note, Hishammuddin said Barisan Nasional had introduced the 14th General Election Manual Workshop in order to find out who were credible candidates acceptable to the rakyat, as well as to identify fence-sitting voters.

“As chairman of this workshop, I have received an order from the Umno Supreme Council and instructed all divisions and party wings to identify the most suitable candidates and to identify the persuadable voters.

“We want to ensure that the candidates are acceptable by the people. Who are the candidates? This question can only be answered by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

“What is most important is to identify the fence-sitting voters, including veterans, teachers and settlers, as well as among the young generation,” he said, adding that the workshop would be conducted throughout the country.

Hishammuddin added that it was paramount to attract youths to vote for BN since they were easily influenced by fake news and negativity spread on social media.
