Shahrir dismisses it as ‘plain propaganda’

KUALA LUMPUR: Felda Global Ventures Holdings Bhd has appointed Datuk Khairil Anuar Aziz, its chief operating officer of logistics and other sectors, as the officer-in-charge to assume the duties and responsibilities of group president and chief executive officer Datuk Zakaria Arshad.
Following the appointment, FGV said it had disbanded the board’s executive committee with immediate effect.
The committee was formed following Zakaria’s suspension on June 6. This is pending an internal investigation over alleged accounting irregularities at Delima Oil Products Sdn Bhd related to dealings with Dubaibased firm Safitex Trading LLC.
The committee was chaired by FGV director Datuk Omar Salim, with director Datuk Mohd Zafer Mohd Hashim and head of logistics cluster Azman Ahmad as its other members.
Khairil Anuar had been with FGV Group since 2012, FGV said yesterday.
He was born and bred in Felda Sungai Klah, Sungkai, Perak, and is a second-generation Felda settler. He holds a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Business Administration majoring in marketing management from Coventry University.
He holds several directorships at the likes of Pelaburan MARA Bhd, Sinergi Perdana Sdn Bhd and Lembaga Pelabuhan Kuantan Bhd. He also served in the Renong Bhd Group and other positions in UEM Bhd Group, Cement Industries and Time Engineering Bhd.
He was appointed a cluster chairman of government-linked companies and a panel member of Gabungan Pemikir Professional Felda since 2009.
Zakaria was suspended along with FGV chief financial officer Ahmad Tifli Mohd Talha and two other senior officers.
On June 7, the Malaysian AntiCorruption Commission began a probe into FGV after Zakaria claimed the presence of abuse of power and graft in its operations.
FGV chairman Tan Sri Isa Samad was removed from his position on June 20, with Tan Sri Dr Sulaiman Mahbob taking over as acting chairman. Isa was made Land Public Transport Commission acting chairman instead.
