A27-YEAR-OLD law student who gained instant notoriety after he was accused of being a habitual road bully after two videos of him being involved in altercations with motorists emerged, was yesterday hauled to court.

S. Simran Singh was charged at the magistrate’s court here with committing mischief by ramming his car into another vehicle.

He was accused of committing the offence near Jalan Pahang heading towards Jalan Genting Klang about 12.45pm on July 13.

The offence, under Section 427 of the Penal Code, carries a maximum of five years’ jail, a fine or both.

Simran pleaded not guilty to the offence when the charge was read to him before magistrate Ahmad Solihin Abd Wahid.

The accused, who arrived in court with his father and lawyer Datuk Jasbeer Singh Kaura, appeared calm throughout the proceedings.

Deputy public prosecutor Noor Elynna Hanim Abd Halim later urged the court not to allow bail, but Jasbeer pleaded that his client was just a student.

The court then set bail at RM2,000 with one surety and fixed Aug 9 for mention.

Speaking to reporters later, Jasbeer said his client would fight the charges and that Simran had been wrongly judged by Netizens and society.

The case involving the alleged road bully became viral after two videos started making the rounds on social media featuring a white Toyota vehicle involved in separate incidents.

In one of the videos, uploaded on July 16, the two men were seen involved in a heated argument as some motorcyclists tried to calm them.

The other video uploaded saw the same white Toyota vehicle in another alleged road bullying incident.

Viewers can hear voices of two people, believed to be of a man and woman, talking about the car in front that was blocking their way. Towards the end of the clip, the man stopped his vehicle in front of the couple, got out and made rude hand gestures before driving away.
