Morais calls on fans to pack Larkin for glory

-

DARUL Ta'zim coach Ulisses Morais hinted at a title celebration in Johor Baru on Wednesday after inviting fans to pack the Larkin Stadium for their next Super League match against Perak.

Currently leading the standings by 11 points with five matches to go, the three-time champions could secure a fourth league title by beating Perak should Kedah and Pahang drop points against Kelantan and Penang respectively.

Darul Ta'zim maintained their advantage in impressive style on Saturday as they routed T-Team 6-1 away with Morais declaring the game was the team's best under his charge.

"We started well with good organisation. Maybe we could have scored more because we had chances but it was a good game for us," Morais told TV3 after the match in which Darul Ta'zim led 3-0 at half-time at the Sultan Ismail Nasiruddin Shah Stadium.

"I don't like to talk about individual players because all the players played well. We made goals from the left and right flanks and it was not just about (Gabriel) Guerra and (S.) Kunanlan. We played well from the beginning to the end."

Guerra scored twice while Kunanlan forced T-Team's Aqil Irfanuddin Sabri into an own goal while Gonzalo Cabrera, Fadhli Shas and Mohammed Ghaddar were also on target for Darul Ta'zim before Joseph Yannick scored a late penalty for T-Team.

Assuming other results go their way on Wednesday, Darul Ta'zim could be celebrating their fourth consecutive title at Larkin.

"The players work hard although we always want more but for now it is okay because we feel happy that we saw in the game everything we did in training," added Morais.

"But I say to the fans we need your support and if the fans and the players both continue together then our team will be strong. As the coach, I want in the next game at home for the stadium to be full which would be great for everyone,” he said.

Darul Ta'zim midfielder Safiq Rahim, however, did not want to countenance a title celebration too early.

"We can't take it easy because we still have five games to play but if we play and work hard in training it's not impossible for us to retain the title and I hope we can keep up this momentum," he said. Devinder Singh
