SINGAPOREAN singeractor Aliff Aziz, who was remanded for allegedly assaulting his wife, Bella Astillah, at a karaoke outlet in Cheras on Thursday, was yesterday released on police bail.

Cheras police chief Assistant Commissioner Chong Kok Sin said the 26-year-old artist was released on bail as investigations were completed.

He said the case would be referred to the deputy public prosecutor for action.

A video clip with closed-circuit television footage showing a man, believed to be Aliff, walking with a woman in the corridor of a karaoke outlet, has gone viral.

The clip also has what appears to be video footage taken on a mobile phone.

Part of a woman is seen in the video. A woman can be heard shouting “what are you doing?” before the clip abruptly ends.

It was reported that the assault allegedly happened after Aliff was caught red-handed with another woman, just weeks after his wife gave birth to their first child, the couple having married only in November.

Bella, who was in confinement, had gone to a karaoke outlet accompanied by her mother at 4.30pm to look for her husband.

An argument broke out when she saw Aliff with a woman in one of the rooms.

It is believed that Bella had taken pictures of her husband and the woman, said to be a television actress, using her mobile phone.

A scuffle ensued when Aliff grabbed his wife’s mobile phone, resulting in her sustaining injuries to the face and knee.

Aliff, who gained possession of the phone, deleted the photos before walking out of the outlet with the other woman, leaving Bella in the room in pain.
