Isuzu donates truck for relief work
THE onset of the annual monsoon will see natural disasters regularly affecting thousands living in the east coast states of Peninsular Malaysia.
Humanitarian organisations such as the Malaysian Red Crescent Society (MRCS) will find getting relief supplies to them challenging.
Distribution of essentials and other supplies need to be effected systematically and rapidly, requiring a large pool of resources ranging from manpower to trucks, four-wheel drive vehicles and even boats.
To this end, Isuzu Malaysia recently donated an Isuzu N-Series 5,000kg truck for use by the society, particularly in Pahang.
The truck is expected to be a valuable and timely tool for the MRCS, particularly with the Northeast monsoon season expected in less than three months.
Isuzu Malaysia chief executive officer Kenji Matsuoka handed over the key of the Isuzu truck to MRCS secretary-general Datuk Sayed A. Rahman Sayed Mohd at a ceremony recently.
Matsuoka said he hoped that the company’s contribution would help the society’s relief efforts.
“Preparedness for eventualities can make a huge difference in coping with natural calamities and disasters. By providing the MRCS with one of the most dependable and efficient trucks available today, we hope that Isuzu is able to contribute towards the society’s disaster response initiatives,” said Matsuoka.
The Isuzu N-Series 5,000kg chassis presented by Isuzu Malaysia was fitted with an aluminium box body donated by Sri Hoong Huat Auto Trading Sdn Bhd (LEW’s).
