-

signed a training agreement with University Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) to develop a collaborative industry training programme in the heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration (HVACR) sector in the country.

Both Emerson and UniKL will jointly develop short course technical programmes tailored for HVACR industry professionals in the operation and maintenance of refrigeration systems. The industry training is open to both local and international participants from the HVACR industry and a Certificate of Achievement will be awarded to each participant upon successful completion of the course.

Emerson vice-president marketing and partner Asia, Middle East and Africa, Tom Parrish said: “Emerson is deeply engaged in encouraging and educating the industries towards building a sustainable future. The collaboration will provide us with the committed approach to working closer together, allowing us to reach our common goals together, that is to grow industry ready talents and meeting the ever growing demand for skilled talents in the HVACR industry.”

The industrial-institutional collaboration will also see Emerson contributing facility equipment to support training programme on-campus at UniKL’s Malaysia France Institute (MFI) in Bangi, Selangor. Some major contractors and endusers like retailers have been shortlisted to undergo the training programme beginning this month.

“Programmes offered by UniKL are industryspecific and cannot be found anywhere else in Malaysia. We touch base on the needed industry experience as when our talents graduate, the environment might be slightly different, this is why we partner with industries as to be in-line with what to expect.” said UniKL president and CEO Professor Datuk Dr Mazliham Mohd Su’ud.

He added: “UniKL practices an open door policy for industries to work with us acting as a conduit for achieving stronger ties of friendship. We opt for long-term customised programmes for industry partners and the partnership with Emerson represents the type of certification we are looking for. This is a starting point for both parties to exchange technical expertise, seek advisory in technology area that provides necessary exposure and skill-set development for the benefit of industries, community, staff, students and our nation as a whole.”

Recognised widely for its engineering capabilities and management excellence, Emerson has developed a training and educational programme known as Partner+ to support the Asia market with over 50 training modules on systems, semi-hermetic compressors, scroll compressor technology, electronic controls, valve technology and remote monitoring.

Programmes offered by UniKL are industry-specific and cannot be found anywhere else in Malaysia.
