Homes­tay owner fined for film­ing guests naked

IPOH: A homes­tay owner who filmed eight of his guests naked while tak­ing their bath was fined RM10,000 here yes­ter­day.

Lim Lai Heng, 45, pleaded guilty to film­ing three men and five women naked with a hid­den cam­era at the homes­tay on July 27, 2014.

Lim had placed a closed-cir­cuit tele­vi­sion cam­era in a bath­room on the sec­ond floor of the premises, the Ipoh Gar­den Homes­tay in Can­ning Gar­den.

Three charges un­der the Pe­nal Code for in­sult­ing the mod­esty of the eight peo­ple aged be­tween 17 and 53 were brought against him.

In the first charge, which in­volved three vic­tims, Lim was fined RM4,000.

A sec­ond charge also in­volved three vic­tims and he was fined the same amount.

The third charge saw him fined RM2,000 for a case in­volv­ing two vic­tims.

Mag­is­trate Siti Salwa Ja’afar meted out the penalty against Lim, who paid the fine.

Deputy pub­lic pros­e­cu­tor Nu­rul Azriah Zaid ap­peared for the pros­e­cu­tion, while Dex­ter Mah rep­re­sented Lim.
