Homestay owner fined for filming guests naked

IPOH: A homestay owner who filmed eight of his guests naked while taking their bath was fined RM10,000 here yesterday.

Lim Lai Heng, 45, pleaded guilty to filming three men and five women naked with a hidden camera at the homestay on July 27, 2014.

Lim had placed a closed-circuit television camera in a bathroom on the second floor of the premises, the Ipoh Garden Homestay in Canning Garden.

Three charges under the Penal Code for insulting the modesty of the eight people aged between 17 and 53 were brought against him.

In the first charge, which involved three victims, Lim was fined RM4,000.

A second charge also involved three victims and he was fined the same amount.

The third charge saw him fined RM2,000 for a case involving two victims.

Magistrate Siti Salwa Ja’afar meted out the penalty against Lim, who paid the fine.

Deputy public prosecutor Nurul Azriah Zaid appeared for the prosecutio­n, while Dexter Mah represente­d Lim.
