Singapore Airlines asks staff to go on voluntary no-pay leave

George Klee: Long haul, low-cost airlines are coming up in droves, let alone the regional budget airlines which are also mushroomin­g. Case in point, Norwegian Air is coming strongly with non-stop return flights to London at less than half the price.

Zazaly Hasan: They have conducted the ‘no pay leave’ exercise for a while now. Looks like they have not been spared in the economic slowdown. I fear for the welfare of the foreign staff.
