‘I’M HAPPIER, CALMER NOW THAT I’M HIS WIFE’
Actress Ummi Nazeera and husband, Dr Mohd Izzar Anwari, had their wedding reception last Thursday. TAHIR ALHAMZAH has the story
THEIR solemnisation was held on July 23 which was kept a secret from everyone. Last Thursday, the newlyweds, actress Ummi Nazeera Nur Hidayah Zainulabidin, 26, and Dr Mohd Izzar Anwari Abdul Khani, 30, had a special reception to announce their union at Le Meridien Hotel in Putrajaya.
The intimate ceremony was attended by 200 of their family members and close friends.
The bride and bridegroom wore a matching off-white ensemble designed by Innai Red.
Among those present were Sultan of Terengganu Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin’s younger brother Tengku Seri Panglima Raja Tengku Baderulzaman Sultan Mahmud and his wife, Toh Puan Seri Wan Hidayah Wan Ismail.
“We officially became husband and wife on July 23. The date was brought forward from the original date planned for Aug 3.
“It was a request by both families that we wed earlier,” said Ummi, who had received Izzar’s blessing to continue her acting career.
Their solemnisation was held at her uncle’s (Datuk Aziz Mat Akhir) house in Bukit Tunku, Kuala Lumpur.
It was witnessed by 20 of their family members.
“I feel happier and calmer now that I’m Izzar’s wife. Oh, and my husband is quite the romantic guy, something that I just found out only now,” said the beaming bride as she glanced over at her groom.
The two were introduced by Izzar’s mother in January last year, and got engaged the same year in November.
Ummi said after the solemnisation ceremony, Izzar had to return to Bintulu, Sarawak. Originally from Kuala Lumpur, he is serving at Bintulu Hospital.
However, beginning next month, he returns to serve in Kuala Lumpur.
The wedding reception on Ummi’s side will be held tonight at Shangri-La Hotel, while the groom’s family will host a reception at Menara Felda’s Banquet Hall at Persiaran KLCC on Aug 12.
The newlyweds plan to have their honeymoon in Sabah and Switzerland.
