RBS posts £939m pre-tax profit in H1

Royal Bank of Scot­land yes­ter­day said it posted a profit in the first half of the year fol­low­ing a £2 bil­lion (RM11.33 bil­lion) loss in the same pe­riod last year. RBS, which has not made an an­nual profit since 2007, made a £939 mil­lion pre-tax profit in the six months to end-June. It was res­cued in a £45.5 bil­lion tax­payer bailout at the height of the fi­nan­cial cri­sis. RBS said it was also in dis­cus­sions with the Dutch cen­tral bank to use its li­cence to trade there fol­low­ing Bri­tain’s exit from the Eu­ro­pean Union.
