RBS posts £939m pre-tax profit in H1

Royal Bank of Scotland yesterday said it posted a profit in the first half of the year following a £2 billion (RM11.33 billion) loss in the same period last year. RBS, which has not made an annual profit since 2007, made a £939 million pre-tax profit in the six months to end-June. It was rescued in a £45.5 billion taxpayer bailout at the height of the financial crisis. RBS said it was also in discussion­s with the Dutch central bank to use its licence to trade there following Britain’s exit from the European Union.
