EROSION EATING AWAY AT PARKING BAYS

-

PARKING bays near a row of shophouses in Jalan Tun Ismail, Kuantan, are being eaten away by erosion.

The front of the parking lanes are eroded, with soil and tar crumbling into a drain.

Mechanic Mohamad Firdaus Mohamad Wazeri, 18, said the problem started three years ago and had worsened recently.

“Initially, the erosion affected only two parking bays, but now, 10 lanes are damaged by the erosion.”

He said there were incidents where cars and lorries parking there had skidded into the drain.

“I hope action is taken before the situation becomes more severe.”

Firdaus said the drain could also become blocked by the soil

and tar falling into it.

ACTIONLINE:

A Kuantan Municipal Council (MPK) said it took note of the complaint and would look into the matter.

“We will take action immediately,” he said, confirming that the parking bays fell under MPK’s jurisdiction.
