All systems go for Subang range

- Khairy S Iswan

DESPITE earlier fears, the Subang Shooting Range is now ready to host the Kuala Lumpur Sea Games.

Sports minister Khairy Jamaluddin, who visited the range yesterday, said he was satisfied with the progress made at the venue.

"We have channeled funds through the sports ministry to do some minor upgrading here and if you take a look around you will see the improvements made," said Khairy.

"They have built a new roof here as well as a few other facilities. At the moment this venue is 90 per cent ready, all that is left to do is the banners and branding etc."

The remote location of the shooting range, which is also close to several construction sites, is feared to have issues with aedes mosquito.

"There is a risk of being exposed to the aedes mosquito here due to the condition of the surrounding areas.

"However, we have conducted several fogging exercises and will continue to do so regularly to deal with the problem."
