AKELANTANESE man, who was allegedly slashed by his wife after telling her of his intention to marry another, said there is more to the story.

The man, 55, believed he was not attacked because he wanted to marry another woman, but because he had lied to his wife.

The man, who works at the Kuala Krai District Council office, said his wife had consented to him marrying another two weeks ago.

The other woman is a Thai national, whom he had known for several years.

However, he said, all hell broke loose when his wife caught him lying during a conversation at their home in Kampung Manik Urai Lama, Kuala Krai.

“My wife found out that I had gone out in secret to meet the woman one night. To test my honesty, she asked me where I went.

“I lied and told her that I went to watch a football match.

“That was when all hell broke loose. She realised that I had cheated on her and ran amok. She grabbed a knife and attacked me.”

The couple have been married for more than 30 years and have six children.

The man said he did not blame his wife for attacking him.

“It was my fault. I will give her space before I decide on marrying the other woman.”

The man received 15 stitches on the head as a result of the attack.

No report was lodged over the incident as the couple have since reconciled.
