GUIDE TO BE A BETTER MUSLIM
Event to focus on explanation of Quranic verses in order to live according to its teachings
THE upcoming World #QuranHour campaign aims to guide Muslims to become better Malaysians by living their lives according to Quranic teachings.
Warisan Ummah Ikhlas foundation head Datuk Hussamuddin Yaacub said this year’s event, themed “A Nation of Compassion”, would focus on tadabbur (explanation of Quranic verses).
“The aim of this movement is to encourage Muslims to (live according to) the teachings of the Quran and (to understand) the guidance and values imparted in it. If Muslims in this country understand the Quran properly, they can become better Malaysians.”
Hussamuddin said the campaign hoped to encourage a Quran-based mindset among Malaysian Muslims.
“If we truly understand and practise the Quran’s teachings, we will become better (parents), better managers; we will be more compassionate, more disciplined and our country will be the least corrupt and most developed.
“We are positive that through this campaign, the image of Islam will be uplifted.”
The World #QuranHour will be held at the International Islamic University of Malaysia’s (IIUM) Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah mosque at 11.30am on Aug 16.
Hussamuddin said all national leaders, including from opposition parties, had been invited to join the programme. The organisers were expecting a huge participation worldwide this year.
“According to our analysis, for the last 30 days, our World Quran Hour campaign has reached 104.375 million people around the world,” said Hussamuddin.
Merdeka #QuranHour events will be held simultaneously at mosques, surau, libraries, government offices, private companies, schools and higher-learning institutions nationwide.
All Muslims are free to organise their own #QuranHour sessions on Aug 16, and those who wish to do so can log on to: bit.ly/worldquranhour1438h for more information.
