Charity concert by Canticle Singers and Filipino baritone

LEAD guest singer, Filipino baritone Cipriano “Zip” De Guzman Jr, will perform with The Canticle Singers in the ensemble’s Silver Anniversar­y showcase called from Aug 25 to 27.

The musical offerings will include opera, classical, Broadway, Disney, pop, jazz and soul numbers by the likes of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber and George and Ira Gershwin.

is co-produced by HK Chong and Chong Kin Kiat, with Chin San Sooi as artistic director and Shaun Chen as the music director.

The show also features choirmaste­r Brian Cheong, pianist Ng Teck Yeong, flautist May Ang and master of ceremonies Timothy Ooi.

The 105-minute concert aims to raise funds for the Purple Centres Foundation (PCF), Manila, which works alongside poor Filipino families to ensure children follow their dreams and fulfil their potential.

The Canticle Singers is an accomplish­ed voluntary choir establishe­d in KL in 1992. It has staged 25 production­s to date and won the Boh Cameronian Arts Award for Best Group Vocals in 2011 and 2014.
