Ranked No 16 on the International Waterski and Wakeboard Federation (IWWF), Aaliyah is Malaysia’s biggest hope in delivering at least two gold medals at this month’s Kuala Lumpur Sea Games Games (KL2017).

Aaliyah’s reputation in Southeast Asia also makes her a clear favourite, as she will be aiming to retain the tricks and overall gold medals she won at the Singapore Games two years ago.

To improve her chances at this year’s edition, the 14-year-old underwent a 14-week training stint in Florida, United States.

“It was great, because when I was there (Florida), I was under the guidance of one of the best coaches in the world. He definitely helped raise my level,” she said.
