Muscling to ill-health: Youngsters with ‘body image issues’ at risk

Rajandran Sundramurthy: Recently, my friend’s son took up bodybuilding at a gym in Ipoh. He started taking so-called protein powder, which I suspect had steroids in it. It wasn’t cheap either. Being an ex-bodybuilder, I advised him, but it didn’t work. In less than 3 months after consuming it, while at the gym, he collapsed and was rushed to hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The post-mortem report showed his death was due myocardial infarction, but did he die due to it?

Azrin Kadri: Protein powder laced with steroids? Really, dude, that’s not how it works.
